This sweet, goofy, full-of-energy pup is looking for his new forever family.
This sweet boy has travelled long and far to have a second chance at life. Haiku was treated at the Baccalieu Trail Animal Hospital to repair some damage he received to his hind leg. He is able to walk but it does cause him pain and discomfort. He is expected to make a complete recovery and this repair will ensure that he has the best quality of life. He will be 2 in April and deserves to play, run, and live a great life. He has been receiving laser therapy and he is responding well. Althought he is doing well with his after care, Haiku will need to keep as calm as possiible and should avoid any activity that puts a lot of stain on his leg. He is kennel trained and should stay in one or a smaller room while you are not at home to limit his activity.
Haiku will be sure to fit into any home. He does well with cats, enjoys the company of dogs, and we feel that we would do fine in a home with children. We know that he is a gently giant and we want his new family members to know that one swing of his powerful tail may push them over but he has not shown any signs of aggression. He would just kill them with kindness.
He has come to us from St. Pierre as there is no vet there to complete such a surgery and he was facing amputation. It is always a hard decision to make for owners but we are so glad that Haiku is here with us to get the care and attention he needs. The St. Pierre SPCA continues to be there for animals in need and were quick to connect with us about Haiku. Haiku has been fully vaccinated, is neutered, and micrchipped. We think that it is so cool that he has his own passport as well! Haiku is doing well adjusting to our English commands but a few simple French commands will go a long way.
We are fortunate enough to be able to help and want to thank the public for their continued support. We think sharing this story is important as Haiku can not let you know himself just how grateful he is. He is now placed for adoption but it is imperative that his new family understand that he will need to continue to rest to ensure he heals properly. Haiku will also need to revisit his vet in Bay Roberts, please keep that in mind when considering to make him a new pet family member.
