Pawla

Meet Pawla,

This stunning girl has the big personality to match her looks. Pawla came to us as a stray and she was never claimed. This sad story has not but a damper on her though. She has been showering us with her love and affection since arriving. She is a polydactyl, which means that she has more than five fingers on her paws. We love this about her and she loves that it makes her truly special and unique.

Pawla is looking for a home that will tell her that she is a pretty girl each day, a home that will treat her with wet food, and a home that will enjoy kitty kat head butts. We do not have a lot of information on her as she came in looking for an owner. Because of her sweet nature we think that she would do well in a home with school aged children. Pawla does chat with us and she has this tiny meow that lets you know that she is following you. She talks back to us too! We are not sure how Pawla would do with other cats as she was unable to interact with the cats we have here while she was looking for an owner.

Pawla, an adult cat, has been spayed, has received a vaccine, a flea treatment, and de-wormer as well. She is ready to go to a new home where she will be loved for the rest of her days. She is ready to go home, and she needs you to help spread the word.

FUN FACT: Polydactyl cats are also known as Hemingway cats. When a ship captain gave a white polydactyl cat named Snowball to writer Ernest Hemingway, the captain kicked off a fantastic obsession for one of history’s most prolific cat guys. At Hemingway’s island home off Key West, FL, he collected more than 50 cats, almost half of whom had extra toes. Thanks to his obsession, today polydactyl’s are frequently called “Hemingway cats.” You can visit the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, where the cat colony still thrives — and some of the kitties are descendants of Snowball, Hemingway’s original polydactyl. Bonus fact: Polydactyl cats are such a big deal that they have made it all the way to the White House: President Theodore Roosevelt had a six-toed first kitty named Slippers.
